Aims & Objectives

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  1. To formulate guidelines and ethical principles and assist and guide professional bodies, regulatory bodies and governments in the formation and modification of guidelines in alignment with the advances occurring in the field of cell therapy.
  2. To incorporate the voices of patient population in the newer policies concerning cell therapy as well as have practitioners have a greater say in policy making.
  3. To take decisions on what are the newer indications for cell therapy.
  4. To set up an accreditation process for stem cell centers so that appropriate national standards for functioning of cell therapy centers could be framed and implemented.
  5. To do all such acts, deeds, matters and things, as may be necessary, desirable or expedient, to further the attainment of objects of the Society, such as:
    • Set indications and contraindications for cell therapy
    • Setup guidelines for each disease group
    • Accreditation of the cell therapy centers
    • Guidelines for rehabilitation following cell therapy
    • Monitoring and documentation standards for safety and efficacy
    • Post-treatment liability
    • Guidelines for required documentation
    • Standard informed consent template
    • Standard protocols for treatment
    • Dialogue with regulatory authorities (ICMR, DGCI, Health Ministry, etc.)
    • Validation of treatment protocols
    • Guidelines for production protocols
    • Awareness programs and educational activities
    • Ensure treatment availability to the masses
    • Provisions for handling medico-legal issues
    • Standard operating procedures for the society
    • Approval or validation of usable cell types
    • Engagement with Indian and international societies
    • Maintain a national registry/database of treated cases

ANCILLARY OBJECTIVES

  1. To support in conducting of research in the areas of:
    • Neurological disorders
    • Musculo-skeletal disorders
    • Cardiovascular disorders
    • Haematopoietic disorders
    • Cartilage and bony disorders
    • Corneal and limbal disorders
    • Malignancies
    • Renal and hepatic disorders
    • Respiratory tract disorders
    • Dermatological conditions
    • Autoimmune disorders
    • Diabetes Mellitus
    • Other disorders
  2. To support in setting up stem cell/other tissue banks, organ and tissue transplantation, and conducting clinical trials and studies at all levels.
  3. To provide assistance in training medical, paramedical, and other staff in clinical and research work, and support educational activities in India and overseas.
  4. To study and evaluate the safety and efficacy of alternative systems of medicine (Ayurvedic, Chinese, Homeopathic, etc.) in conjunction with cell therapy.
  5. To support research and knowledge enhancement in the medical profession to improve public medical relief.
  6. To provide support in patenting products developed as part of research initiatives and therapy protocols.
  7. To act as consultants and render technical and managerial services in medical research and healthcare facility management.
  8. To develop training modules, conduct professional development programs, and offer accreditation and experience-based learning.
  9. To prepare, publish, and circulate educational material in stem cell research, and maintain related research centers, data centers, and workshops.
